With the development of China's economy and culture, more and more young foreigners want to study and develop in China. Besides working and studying in school, interning in China is also an increasingly popular choice. So, how do you find an internship in China? After finding an internship, how can I apply for a Chinese internship visa?
Regarding the search for internships in China, the editor mainly introduces the following methods.
The first type is to seek help from the school's contact person. You can talk to any mentor, professor, or consultant, and they may recommend you to someone they know who can offer internship opportunities. Some schools or school projects, such as the CIEE project of East China Normal University, may cooperate with different companies to provide you with internship opportunities.
The second approach is to leverage the power of the internet. You can search on websites. We also has some intership positons.
After you find an internship opportunity, it is crucial to ensure that youobtain the correct visa. The visa application process varies greatly among different types of students. Students applying for internship visas are mainly divided into two categories: international students studying in China and foreign students studying abroad.
International students studying in China generally hold X1 or X2 visas.
International student (holding X1 visa)
International students holding X1 visas can participate in paid or unpaid internships in China. And you will receive an X visa with "Off campus Internship" on the visa page. However, you first need to obtain a permit to study at the university and submit an internship application to the university where you are located. After obtaining approval, you can go to the Immigration and Exit Administration toupdate your residence permit and attach detailed information of the internship host company.
International student (holding X2 visa)
International students holding an X2 visa who wish to intern in China need toswitch from an X2 visa to an S2 visa. The required materials for visa changes are as follows:
Passport for valid student visa
photo
Chinese S visa application form
Temporary accommodation registration form (issued by the hotel or local policestation)
Certificateof Admission to Foreign Universities
InvitationLetter for Internship Company
The visa change takes 7 working days, and it is necessary to pay attention to the change time of both visas before the change. In addition, the internship visa is a zero entry visa, which means that the holder cannot leave Chinese Mainland during the internship. The validity period of the internship visa is accurate to the end date ofthe project, so it is necessary to be careful not to delay the visa, and you can also change the plan or apply for visa extension.
Students holding degrees from foreign universities
For foreign students who have obtained degrees abroad, let's introduces the following two visa options:
Option1:
Visa type: F (cultural visit)
Eligible applicants: unlimited
Duration (maximum): generally no more than 6 months/single entry
Undertaking unit: Company providing internship
Documents to be obtained from the organizer: Invitation Letter
Some foreign university students can also apply for the S2 visa, but it islimited to some listed universities. Not all students from foreign universities are eligible to apply, but the F visa has no restrictions on universities.
Option2:
Visa Type: S2 (Private Affairs - Internship)
Eligible applicants: Currently only students from specific overseas universities
Duration (maximum): 180 days/non departure/re entry
Organizer: the company or school who will sign the contract with interns
Documents to be obtained from the organizer: invitation letter, internship contract, business license
Note: This application can only be processed with different visa types after the intern arrives in Shanghai. This means that foreign students who are allowed to enter China with other types of visas can switch their visa types to short-term private affairs visas (with legal internships) after arriving in China and start internship work. Your company must dispatch staff to accompany interns in applying for visas at the Public Safety Bureau (working hours: Monday to Friday). The application process takes 7 days.

签证类型:F(文化访问)
签证类型:S2(私人事务– 实习)
